What classes or sports do you coach?
Swimming lessons, as well as rugby for my local club.
What made you want to become a coach?
I first got involved in swimming lessons while assisting with West Lothian Council. I was originally planning to become a lifeguard, but the teacher in charge asked me to help out in the water with some of the children. I discovered I had a natural ability for teaching and helping children improve their swimming, which inspired me to become a swimming teacher!
What’s your favourite thing about being a coach?
Seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces as they enjoy themselves in and around the water is one of the best parts of being a swimming teacher. It’s also really rewarding to see a child achieve something they’ve been struggling with and watch their confidence grow along the way.
Tell us one fun fact about yourself!
As well as teaching swimming, I’m also a fire breather and fire-eater! You might spot me performing at various gala days across West Lothian throughout the year.
